Main functions of the role:
- Ensure complete customer satisfaction.
- Assist the Project Manager with support both in the factory and onsite.
Main duties:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform final SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) & handover to customer of WP supplied transformers up to 132kV
- Perform testing on transformers in the field during site refurbishments and relocation projects up to 132kV.
- Testing includes but is not limited to;
- Sweep Frequence Response Analysis (SFRA).
- Dissipation Factor & Capacitance (Tan Delta)
- Short Circuit Impedance
- Exiting Current.
- Winding Resistance.
- Winding Ratio & Vector Check.
- Insulation Resistance.
- CT Analysis.
- Protection Instrument Operational Testing.
- Be responsible for test report review and approval from engineers & issuing to customer.
- Be responsible for training engineers in transformer testing.
- Writing and implementing new procedures where required in relation to transformer testing.
- Offer support to general commissioning requirements, namely support with planning and customer interaction.
- Writing and issuing commissioning schedules for yourself and other engineers to follow.
- You will ensure that all equipment is assembled and tested to the highest standard.
- You will read and understand mechanical and schematic drawings.
- You will be open to training and learning new methods.
- To work unsociable hours when required to meet WP demands, including site work as required.
- Carry out any reasonable ad-hoc duties requested by your direct Line Manager or the Management Team
- Proactively contribute to the company’s policy of continuous improvement.
Requirements:
Qualifications/Skills required for the role:
- GCSEs High school or equivalent
- Candidate will have Electrical / Electronic City & Guilds Apprenticeship 2381, 2391 – as minimum qualification
- Electrical Power Engineering qualification, minimum HNC level (Desirable – Depending on Experience)
- Broad knowledge of power engineering plant and equipment, i.e. Transformers & Reactors, HV & LV Switchgear, Cabling and HV & LV protection schemes.
- MS office inc. Word, Excel, Powerpoint & other custom software specific for test equipment.
- Hands-on experience of working within a mechanical/electrical engineering environment is essential.
- Electrical engineering experience.
- Transformer knowledge.
- Site based experience.
- Experience in Health & Safety and conducting risk assessments are essential.
- Full driving licence
- Site based qualification such as Safety Passport, PASMA, IPAF and more.
- DNO Authorisations (Can be trained – But must be willing to learn)
