About the position

We are currently working with a innovative company who design and engineering team work with manufacturers on small to medium sized automation projects, from bench-top checking/gauging fixtures to multiple 6 Axis robotic pick & place systems.  They also have particular expertise working with plastic components including assembly, machining and finishing.

All aspects of project delivery are carried out in-house, including concept design, 3D CAD in Solidworks, CNC machining, manufacturing (mechanical, electrical and programming), testing and commissioning, with all materials and components meeting strict quality standards.

Job Requirements

  • Provide a high level of skill in interpreting the customer’s and regulatory requirements to ensure software designs are functional and fit for purpose.
  • Carry out panel/control system design as agreed with the Engineering Manager to meet business and customers specified requirements.
  • Be commercially aware to maximise value to our customers and maintain a loyal customer base.
  • Ensure the relevant software design documents are issued in line with the schedule ensuring agreed deliveries are met.
  • Ensure that design quality is maintained throughout the project by verifying with the Engineering Manager that all work meets the company’s and customers’ expectations.
  • Communicate accurate project status to the Engineering manager, internal and external customers, and suppliers to ensure the projects is on schedule.
  • Provide technical support to the Engineering Manager during internal and external design review meetings to ensure approvals are achieved to ensure the project is on schedule.
  • Plan resource requirements with the Electrical Engineer to develop the project milestones.
  • Support the machine commissioning activities in collaboration with the commissioning team to a successful FAT & SAT. Work with all colleagues to ensure compliance with current standards.
  • Utilise third party/supplier software to calculate specific requirements.
  • Liaise with design engineers to design a control system that meets customer requirements.
  • Understand the CE/UKCA marking process and what is required to achieve certification.
  • Design Electrical controls panels systems from customer specifications in accordance to BS EN 60204/ BS EN ISO 13849.
  • Inspect Control panels manufactured internally and externally to BS EN 60204.
  • Oversee specific projects as instructed by the Engineering Manager.

Experience Required
 

  • Apprentice trained in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering.
  • HNC, HND, or BSC in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Proficient in the use Mitsubishi and Siemens programming platforms.
  • Integration of vision systems into industrial automation.
  • Integration of servo drives into industrial automation.
  • Process automation background.
  • Being able to develop special purpose machinery is a skill you’ll have gained in your previous employment within a similar precision engineering environment.
  • Experienced in managing projects including working to tight timescales throughout the project life cycle.
  • Integration of robotics into automation solutions.
  • Experience in identifying and reporting long and short-term project resource requirements.
  • Experience of working in a challenging and fast paced workplace and being creative in providing solutions.
