Role and responsibilities:

We are a leading prototyping company with over 50 years’ experience in the manufacture of high-quality models and prototypes.   In order to enhance and strengthen our model finishing team, we require an experienced model maker to join our skilled in-house workshop. Working within a modern workshop you will play a key role in creating prototype models for a variety of commercial and consumer uses.  You will need to draw on your experience of both the latest and traditional modelmaking techniques and processes to deliver creatively outstanding models. You will need to be sympathetic to the function and form of the items being produced, whether they are machine parts, consumer goods or relating to civil engineering projects, medical and automotive industries.

Skills and experience:

•    Sound model making experience, manually dexterous showing skill and craftsmanship in your work
•    Clear understanding of the parameters required within the stereolithography process
•    Ability to understand and interpret drawings, hand drawn sketches and written information
•    Ability to repair parts when necessary to a very high standard
•    Comfortable working to tight deadlines with a pro-active, problem-solving approach and a collaborative working style
•    Be creative and imaginative when problem solving, with the ability to pre-empt problems
•    Good level of understanding of different materials and adhesives
•    Use a variety of design, fabrication, and finishing techniques to create highly accurate scale models
•    Ability to work within manufacturing tolerances throughout the process utilising workshop alignment and measurement techniques

Qualities and skills required:

•    Qualified to a minimum HND level in relevant subject area or minimum 3 years equivalent industry experience
•    Able to demonstrate a good knowledge of workshop machinery, e.g., circular saw, band saw, pillar drill, sanding disc 
•    Good level of CAD skills required

•    Collaborate well within a team environment but can also work well autonomously
•    Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to articulate ideas and techniques to other model makers and team members
•    Honest and transparent approach with staff and customers
•    Possess a strong work ethic
•    Excellent timekeeping
