Unfortunately, these are also some of the worst foods for the environment due to the high emissions created by transportation, farming and feeding that is involved within the process. I know we can’t help with every single part of the method involved but even a little help could make big difference.

The high emissions are particularly due to the farming and transportation of these goods, even down to the average family travelling to the supermarket to do their weekly shop. This is mainly because of the petrol and diesel used within the two steps mentioned. Powertrains are one of the main components within vehicles whether it be passenger cars, commercial vehicles or the large engines within agricultural vehicles/machines and this company offering this opportunity is looking to develop a greener and safer way for these vehicles to operate through development, simulation and testing of powertrain systems.

We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and enthusiastic Graduate to join a thriving Calibration Department in Basildon, Essex. The successful candidate will have completed a relevant industrial placement in powertrain or emissions development as part of their studies, and will be responsible for optimising the calibration of the diesel engine and powertrain. The objective will be to ensure that all target criteria are met, and that the powertrain works to its full efficiency in all operating conditions.

This dynamic role involves planning, preparation and supervision of related vehicle tests, assessment and documentation of test results and delivery of calibrations. There may also be the exciting prospect to participate in vehicle test development trips.
Your Responsibilities:

  • Planning and execution of an engine or vehicle development program
  • Calibration dataset development in-line with attribute targets
  • Dataset validation for all ambient conditions both in facility and in territory
  • Analysis of results and preparation of recommendations
  • Liaison and reporting to various functions within the organisation

Your Profile:

  • BEng in Mechanical/Automotive or related Engineering discipline
  • Experience within the automotive industry (industrial placement) in diesel engine or vehicle development and/or testing
