Mechanical Design Engineer
Hernshead is working in conjunction with a Design Consultancy in Oxford on an exciting new R&D focused Innovate UK project.
The consultancy has partnered with a leading Engineering Design company and one of the top UK Universities to create a new Additive Manufacturing machine focused on researching the ability to create 3D Printed Electric Vehicle Batteries.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conceptualising & designing special purpose machinery for this project and working in conjunction with the partners to revise and adapt designs to establish feasibility.
You’ll have a background working within the design of Special Purpose Machinery and will understand Process and Manufacturing challenges and be able to understand user needs.
During the course of the project, you’ll liaise with a Controls & Automation Engineer so an understanding of Automation and the needs within a Mechanical Design would be crucial.
The CAD System used will be Solidworks so previous experience of this is essential.
A background within Additive Manufacturing/Batteries is not essential although any prior knowledge or project experience would be a huge advantage.
This role is a FTC for 12 months based full time on the clients site in Bicester.
