We are looking for a Senior Controls Hardware Engineer to join our client’s dedicated in-house technical expert team who are developing know-how and IP in unique aspects of the engine. The small in-house controls team within the technical expert team has been in place for just over 12 months and is tasked with developing a suitable prototyping control system to run this unique and unusual engine through development into production.

A key part of this will be an electronics hardware engineer with experience in automotive to take responsibility for all of the control system hardware across the client’s various engines and test rigs. You will be working to a very ambitious timeframe for development and production with a lot of interesting and unique challenges along the way.

The successful Controls Hardware Engineer will have the following skills:

  • Deep familiarity with electronics test and measurement tools (oscilloscopes, signal generators, multimeters, logic analysers, etc) such that you could choose and procure the most suitable for our needs.
  • Fluent in sensor technologies, both production sensors and instrumentation-grade devices sufficiently to be able to independently select and implement.
  • Familiar with automotive electrical architectures and typical signal types present in modern automotive wiring harnesses (SENT, CAN/J1939, Ethernet, etc).
  • The ability to design, procure parts for and build a high-quality wiring loom from scratch with minimal support.
  • Good familiarity with designing analog and digital circuitry and making/testing prototype embedded electronics devices as well as assessing the suitability of off-the-shelf devices and supplier proposals.
