Job Purpose:

  • Work with Purchasing and suppliers to ensure good quality components are received.
  • Use and Introduce Quality Tools to improve processes, providing training where required.
  • Assist with final equipment sign-off for despatch – testing, snag list, manuals, compliance.
  • Drive the H&S system through the business, ensuring that we are working in a safe environment.
  • Ensure continued accreditation to ISO9001 and compliance with their procedures, lead audit review

Job Summary:

  • To champion quality and safe working throughout the business, working in every function to improve what it does and reduce errors and waste and ensure that we are operating to our optimum capability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute a continuous review of compliance throughout all functions of the business
  • Work with external audit teams on verification and legal compliance
  • Engage with all employees and take on board process improvements and update documents / procedures accordingly
  • Ensure new employees are aware of the ISO9001 requirements, in conjunction with their manager.
  • Undertake incoming goods inspection, whether randomly or following an agreed process for certain suppliers
  • Manage the Reject Process of supplied goods, engaging with the supplier to reach agreement on replacement, rectification or AFI rectify at a cost.
  • Work with Purchasing and Suppliers to ensure that they are meeting our requirements – visit as required.
  • Ensure an annual review and grading of all suppliers is undertaken
  • Complete vetting of new Suppliers as and when required.
  • Report on supplier data: On-Time delivery, % quality rejects
  • Complete audits of new Suppliers as and when required.
  • Sign-off equipment as complete and able to ship, with quality records of build, and quality documentation complete.
  • Manage Customer Complaints, follow through within the business for improvements.
  • Critically review what we do, the processes and procedures, and include the operatives in promoting improvements
  • Engage employees to create a culture of continuous improvement
  • Champion H&S through the business
  • Maintain KPI’s highlighting the performance of the function and where necessary, introduce new KPI’s that will drive the function forward.
  • Take corrective action where outcomes are not as required.
  • Observe and enforce all company H&S requirements
  • Champion the company quality procedure
  • Track Sub-Con Rejects, including back-charge costs
  • Track on-time delivery from suppliers
  • Open Customer Complaints and number in year
  • NCR’s open, and number in year with disposition

Qualifications or functional experience

  • Quality Management experience in a similar environment (Engineering)
  • QM lead through annual audit process  
  • Engineering or similar degree

Skills Knowledge Experience  

  • Computer literate
  • Microsoft Office Applications – Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint
  • Engineering background, ability to read Engineering Drawings, incl tolerancing etc.
  • Practical Quality Skills – use of measuring equipment
  • Risk Assessment completion
  • Experience of running H&S programmes
  • Application of RCA procedures to suit the problem
  • Hold current clean Driving License
  • ERP/MRP knowledge
  • TQM knowledge, with practical ability to support
