My client is looking for a Senior Design Engineer to be responsible for the design and integration of their products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and carry out the design of powertrains
• Carry out detailed mechanical design work, including 3D modelling, prototyping, and design verification testing, while ensuring compliance with automotive industry standards and legal vehicle conversion regulations
• Select mechanical components with consideration for standardisation, obsolescence, availability, and cost
• Prepare and present mechanical designs at design reviews, while ensuring design files and information are up-to-date and stored appropriately within the PDM/PLM
• Liaise with other departments, including sales and marketing, mechanical build, electrical, and production to ensure products are designed for manufacture & assembly and customer requests are handled efficiently
• Take the technical lead on all projects, coach and support junior engineers in design techniques, define departmental processes, and identify opportunities for process, productivity, and quality improvements.

Experience Required:

• A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
• Automotive experience
• Advanced SolidWorks proficiency
• Proven track record in leading product development projects
• Extensive expertise in designing bespoke automotive projects
• Proficiency in GD&T
• Proficiency in creating detailed 2D drawings for manufacture
• Practical experience in assembly and testing
• Experience in mentorship
