About the Position: 

We are recruiting for a Prototype Stock Controller on behalf of our client, a leading automotive brand. This contract role will be integrated within the Prototype Engineering and Supply Chain Team, playing a key part in the smooth delivery of early-phase prototype builds. The successful candidate will report to the Prototype Engineering Manager and be responsible for processing parts into the build hall.

As a core member of the supply chain, the Stock Controller will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the timely delivery of received goods and satisfy part demand. This role offers the opportunity to contribute new, innovative ideas to warehousing processes, while also assuming material controller responsibilities for sourcing carry-over parts.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Own the stock control process for part delivery to vehicle builds.
  • Manage accurate inventory control of all prototype vehicle parts.
  • Create and pick vehicle kits in collaboration with Build Engineering to meet daily build requirements.
  • Work closely with the wider logistics team, fostering a collaborative approach to achieve team goals.
  • Coordinate carry-over stock demands, from initial request through to lineside delivery.
  • Track and follow up on active requisitions to ensure timely budget approval and part delivery.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date tracking documentation for all parts and processes.
  • Ensure all received goods are appropriately ‘goods receipted’ and liaise with the Senior Technical Buyer regarding delivery status.
  • Promote company values, ensuring high standards in housekeeping, appearance, and behaviour.
  • Contribute to a safe working environment, adhering to SSoW and H&S policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the engineering and supply chain goals.
  • Apply the 5S methodology to maintain a tidy, disciplined storage space in line with company standards.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Trained in 5S methodology.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing and warehousing environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and IT systems.
  • Experience working under pressure to meet specific deadlines.
  • Previous experience in material planning and control is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SAP products is preferred.
  • Experience within the automotive industry is an advantage.
