About this position 

We are currently working with a technical automation & drives distributor, who provide leading edge automation products, including machine controls, visualisation, electrical drives, linear motion, measurement & sensing, motors & gearboxes, mechanical transmission, and light & sound. Their customers are from a wide range of industry sectors, including packaging, material handling, labelling, medical/rehab, food & beverage and marine.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop in-depth technical expertise of motion control and automation products and software platforms.
  • Keep up to date with relevant industrial technological developments.
  • Develop application knowledge for key industry sectors and main applications.
  • Gain knowledge of competitor products strengths and weaknesses.
  • Attend supplier training sessions, seminars and new product launches.
  • Develop knowledge of Robotics solutions (when launched).
  • Customer Technical Support.
  • Offer technical support to customers, via email, phone, virtually and in person.
  • Obtain clear information from customers, through relevant questioning and requests for information.
  • Replicate customer faults in order to reach solutions to customer issues.
  • Develop test rigs and test equipment to aid fault finding.
  • Liaise with colleagues and supply partners when further support is required.
  • Assist with customer training, on site or customer premises.
  • Assist with organising and delivering customer technical seminars.
  • System Integration Partner Network.
  • Support and develop system integration partner network.
  • Manage referral of end user projects to system integrator partners and follow-up / support activities
  • Develop and coordinate activities in order to improve knowledge of system integrator partners on all key automation products and software platforms.
  • Develop Robotics integration partner network.
  • Product Returns.
  • Perform initial testing of returned products in order to ascertain issues.
  • Return product to supplier for repair, if necessary.
  • Liaise with customer and supplier for relevant actions.
