About this position:

We are currently seeking a Vehicle Build Manager to join our clients dynamic team.

As a Vehicle Build Manager you will organise and lead the daily operations in the build hall and ensuring that the progress to sales of each vehicle is in line with business plan milestones. In this role you will be responsible for leading the first line supervisory and planning team and the full build hall technician compliment, through all of its SQDCME targets. You will be expected to closely work on, manage, track and progress the vehicles under your control from arrival on site to completion of mechanical build and handover to sales as a finished product.  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Organisation of the build team to ensure the highest level of productivity, eliminating waste and non-effective time to optimize vehicle flow to schedule
  • Drive Constraint management through the value stream and ensure bottlenecks are identified to remove inefficiencies in the process
  • Tracking build progress closely to ensure vehicles are delivered to specification, on time and to the expected customer focussed Quality levels
  • Support and / or lead Operations business cadence for all elements of SQDCME deliverables 
  • Coach and mentor all build team members to deliver the highest level of Quality and Delivery outcomes at all times
  • Ensuring continuous improvement within the area of responsibility and supporting the build team in continuous improvement events and activities
  • Maintain an internal Quality signoff system which reduces and aims to eliminate the need for rework and non value-added efforts after vehicle completion

Experience Required:

  • A high level of motivation and initiative
  • Ability to understand and read engineering drawings and instructions 
  • Be able to understand all the key deliverables of each step in the process chain (Restoration, Electrical, Trim as well as own Build Hall area
  • Ability to use planning and timing tools to optimise process flow
  • A good understanding of road car engineering: Chassis, suspension, steering, braking systems, body systems
  • A working knowledge of high and low voltage electrical systems, general engineering principles when applied to the assembly of road cars and body and interior structures and their assembly
